Manchester United have sealed a five-year contract for Blackburn defender Phil Jones in a deal estimated to be worth up to £17m.
Despite good offer from Liverpool, the 19-year-old insisted he only wanted a move to Old Trafford.
Jones spent the majority of last season playing in a central midfield role for Blackburn, but Ferguson has high expectation on Jones, he told the player and his parents that he regards him as a central defender who can forge a partnership with Chris Smalling which could provide the foundation of United’s defence for the next 10 years
